My name is Anne D. and I'm a stay-at-home mom with a wonderful husband… and now a P90X grad!

My Beachbody journey began 4 years ago when I did my first Power 90 workout. I didn't have any real goals at that time. I knew exercise was good for me, so I plugged in the tape. I was still holding on to 25 pounds and lots of inches from my last pregnancy during which I had gained 70 pounds. After 2 weeks with Power 90 I had lost 2 inches off my waist and I was hooked. At the end of my first round of Power 90 I had lost 30 pounds and was at a weight and size that I hadn't been even in high school. I had more energy than I had in years. And, because I had become more active, I was able to maintain my results with a little help from Power 90 and Power Half Hour.

Then came P90X!

I ordered P90X because I just couldn't stand reading the Beachbody Message Boards anymore and not being a part of it all. I talked to Doug F., a P90X grad and Beachbody coach, and his wife Tammie. I admitted that I wanted to order P90X, but wasn't sure why I—as a stay-at-home mom—was motivated to get into that kind of shape. Tammie just said "Why not?" And Doug said, "Go for it!" Aside from feeling left out of the boards, I really believe the bottom line for me was that I wanted to defy that 40th birthday syndrome. Someone told me that at 40, everything starts to fall apart. I saw all these other people on who were older than me and definitely not falling apart. And I was proud to tell people that I was 40 because I felt so incredible! I think it's the first time I've ever announced my birthday. It was like… "Look at me! This is what 40 should be like. And now I'm thinking 50 ought to feel this good too!"

At first the P90X Nutrition Plan seemed overwhelming. But without it all, I wouldn't have eaten the right combinations of food to get the best results. I'm still using all of the guidelines in the Fitness Guide even after reading it several times through. For me, the first phase required the most focus and planning. It was all so new to me. When I got to the third phase, I had reached a level of discipline that I have never experienced before. And I was so excited. Mentally and physically I felt the strongest I ever have in my life. The whole 90 days with P90X, from the workouts to the food plan, was an amazing time of discovery about my body and how foods affect me not only physically, but also mentally. I'm still in awe.

Now discipline, focus, and excitement are spilling over into other areas of my life, from my artwork to teaching my boys new learning skills. Last summer I got certified to be a Red Cross instructor for swimming and water safety. I'm taking an archery class so I can get my coaching certification. It's really an exciting time in my life. And it's all because of how much better I feel about myself. I wasn't prepared for this!

The workouts met my expectations and then some. I had no idea there were so many ways to do push-ups! And Yoga X! Oh man, what can I say? My only yoga experience prior to P90X was the yoga in Power 90. When I saw that Yoga X was next up in my schedule that first week, I was surprised that it was an hour and a half! I had no idea what was in store for me. When I got to the last couple of down dogs, in the middle of the workout, I thought, "Tony…please don't say 'vinyasa' again!" Yoga X was and is the most challenging and humbling workout I've ever done. It totally blew me away. I was tempted to skip it in the beginning weeks, but having worked out with Tony's tapes for 3+ years prior to the X, I trusted Tony and knew that this workout was an important part of the program design. And now, I won't miss my Yoga X workout. It's an integral part of my week. I don't have it down perfectly, but I'm improving every week.

As far as my goals, I had a strong desire to make my body durable. I wanted to burn off some fat and look great in my clothes. But what I really desired more than anything when I started this program, was to make my body capable of withstanding what life throws at it. And P90X is making that all possible. I can hold postures in Yoga X that I couldn't get into 90 days ago. For instance I couldn't touch the tips of my fingers in "the grab," and now I can without struggling. I could only do a couple of the "boy" push-ups during my P90X pre-test. I blamed my skinny wrists! Now, I'm doing more and more "boy" push-ups every week. There is something really satisfying about being able to pump out a bunch of push-ups.

Years ago, in Lincoln, Nebraska, I shared with Carl Daikeler how skeptical I was when ordering Power 90. I've not been skeptical about Beachbody products since. When I order something, I know it's going to do what Beachbody promises, as long as I'm willing to do my part. And the P90X program is no exception. With P90X I've gotten stronger, leaner, and more flexible than I've ever been in my life. I didn't set out to lose weight, but I lost 10 pounds and 9 inches in 90 days with P90X and went from 22% body fat to 14%. My shoulders are broader and I gained half an inch in my biceps. I went from nearly a size 10 to a 4/6. I can't even begin to express the incredible feeling of accomplishment at making it through the entire P90X program. I'm in a state of physical fitness I never dreamed possible, and now I'm dreaming bigger because I know there is more that I can do…and it's all because of Beachbody!

My husband and boys have also reaped the rewards of eating healthy and working out. Dave has started Power 90 and runs during his lunch breaks. He has lost 20 pounds as I write this and his primary concerns are to withstand the rigors of his job and lower his cholesterol. The boys do Tony & the Kids several times a week. We are more active as a family than we've ever been. Biking, swimming, hiking, running, and sledding are just a few of the activities we now enjoy as a family. And because I'm the one home with the boys the majority of the time, had I not gotten in shape, I wouldn't be pushing these activities. Give the boys an option to go for a bike ride or sit and play on the computer and they'll choose the bikes. We just returned from our first vacation in the Rockies. It was so awesome to be able to hike for several miles and still feel good at the end of the day! We weren't even planning this summer vacation, but I felt so good at the end of P90X, I said, "Let's go do this!" Becoming fit has been one of the most exciting things I've ever done in my life. And as Tony says "It's a gorgeous gift." And it truly is. Thanks for showing us the way!

I can't begin to express how grateful I am for your vision in starting Beachbody, and for your continuing dedication to excellence and to helping people no matter what their current fitness level might be—to achieve a body and state of wellness they've only dreamed about. How many things in our lives do we do, that take far more time and effort, that don't give us the rewards we get by becoming healthy and fit? Working out and clearing up my diet changed my life.
