I originally ordered the Slim in 6 program because my blood pressure was borderline high and I was feeling terrible about the way I looked, especially since I WAS exercising. My doctor recommended that I lose some weight to see if that would bring down my blood pressure before I would have to start taking medication to control it. I should also mention that I had been a consistent runner (20 miles per week) for the past nine years, but my running had gotten very stale and I was slowly but surely putting on weight. I had always maintained between 145 and 155 pounds, but by the time I started this program my weight had crept up to 164 pounds!
In early August 2004 I saw an infomercial for Slim in 6, and decided it was what I needed to kick-start myself into better fitness. When the program arrived, I took my "before" photo (ugh!) and my measurements (double ugh!) and started immediately.
I was very impressed with the gradual way Slim in 6 started out. As a runner, I did have a decent cardiovascular base, but this program really pushed me and made me so much stronger and leaner! My original goal when I started the program was to get my weight below 150 again, which I accomplished! In the first 6 weeks my weight dropped from 164 pounds to 149 pounds. Everyone at work was asking what I was doing to lose all this weight. I happily spouted about the programas I gave away all my bigger clothes and bought new, smaller ones!
I was so delighted and motivated that I simply continued doing Slim in 6 (as well as my running). After several more weeks, I ordered Power 90 and mastered that as well. By the time I started P90X, I was already down to 136 pounds and felt ready for anything!
When I started P90X, my goal was not to lose more weight although I did take off another 5 pounds), but to strengthen and reshape my body even more. I wanted to fine-tune and challenge myself. I believe I accomplished that. I am proud to say that I am a P90X grad! It has been seven weeks since I finished the P90X program and I am still doing the various workouts. Although I never stopped running, my mileage has gone up to 25 miles per week and I am running faster, better, and with more motivation than before. Hands down, I am in the best shape of my life. And my blood pressure is under control, too. I am maintaining at 131 pounds and a size 4 to 6!
I am so happy and grateful to both Debbie Siebers and Tony Horton for being so motivating and FUNNY! It is still a pleasure to Push Play every day.
Thank you so much for your programs.
