2004 Hollywood Trip
|Slim in 6|
On January 31, 2004, I made the only life-changing decision ever to have such an impact on my life.
After the birth of my third child in 2002, I had quickly gained an unbelievable amount of weight. Being a stay-at-home mom didn't help at all since I had all day and night to snack, munch, taste, and nibble. I would eat because of depression, sadness, loneliness, and sometimes from just simply being bored. I was consuming 3,000 to 4,000 calories a day, primarily in sweets, fried foods, and sodas! A typical breakfast for me would be three waffles smothered in butter and syrup, three sausage links, three eggs, and then a bowl of cereal if I didn't feel "full enough." I ballooned to a whopping 255 pounds, but was always in denial about being overweight. There were times when would look at myself in the mirror and sob until my eyes were swollen because of my weight, and then there were times when I would be like, "Oh, you're not that big."
I ordered the Slim in 6 program on January 31, 2004. I started the program on February 16, after taking the 2-Day Fast Formula. When my husband took my before photos, I cried for hours on end saying, "This is not me, this is not me." That's when I woke up, and snapped out of denial and into reality about my out-of-control weight gain.
When the fast was over, I felt cleansed, refreshed, and even my skin was clearer. I had practically changed my diet overnight. I no longer craved sweets, sugared drinks, or fast food (my favorite!). When I popped in phase 1 of the program, "Start It Up!", it was a challenge to say the least, since I did no kind of physical exercise other than running after my 2-year-old and going to the refrigerator. When I got to "Ramp It Up!" I said, "You've got to be kidding me! How do they expect a 255-pound person to bend and stretch like that?" But I pushed my body to at least try, and after a few days I had more energy and became a lot stronger, which made it easier to complete the routine. I didn't notice a significant amount of weight loss and became disappointed. But I went to my closet and tried on a pair of pants I hadn't worn in three months, and they FIT! What I learned from that was this: Scales don't always tell the real story, but getting into a smaller pair of jeans does!
As I graduated to "Burn It Up!", I thought to myself, "Okay, this woman Debbie Siebers is not human." During the first week, I could barely complete five push-ups, but by the end of six weeks, I was doing two reps of 15! Working out with Debbie was very encouraging because it was as if she was right there in the room cheering me on. Every time she would say, "Come on, you can do it," I felt as if she was talking directly to me! I never gave up, I continued to Push Play, and I pressed on toward my goal of a new and slimmer me! The girls in my Beachbody support group were awesome! Without their support, I couldn't have made it this far! THANK YOU!
My caloric intake is now 1,300–1,500 per day. Since February 16, 2004, I have completely cut the following out of my diet: fried foods, fast food, sugared drinks, sodas, sweets of any kind, and red meat. I now eat fresh vegetables, fruit, white meat, bran cereal, low-fat milk, etc., and I drink water by the gallon! I used to hate water to the point that I only drank one glass a week! This program actually drives you to eat healthier, gives you a craving for fresh fruits and vegetables, and gives you an extremely high energy level.
When it comes to losing weight, there is no such thing as an "off day" to eat whatever you want. Every day is a day to eat healthier, push harder, and live longer. Like I always say to my support group, "Whether you believe you can or believe you can't, you're right!" Weight loss consists of two key elements that are vital if you are to slim down and eat healthy: DISCIPLINE and COMMITMENT. The book that comes with the Slim in 6 program stresses that over and over. Without those two things, it's virtually impossible to accomplish any weight loss goal.
As a result of the program and keeping those two key elements in mind, I have lost a total of 47 POUNDS and dropped from a size 22/24 to a 14/16. My ultimate goal is 185 pounds and a size 12! I can't believe I'm almost there!
Thank you, Debbie Siebers, for creating such a wonderful, life-changing, natural weight loss program for which I will be forever grateful! I'm living proof that it works!
