My extended family had a party this past weekend and it was the first time many people had seen me since I started the Slim in 6 program. The best compliment I received was from a neighborhood girl whom I grew up with. When she first came into the party she turned to her mom and, pointing to me, asked, Who is that? That comment made me realize just how much I had changed.
Growing up, I was a fairly healthy person. In high school, I was an All-State outside linebacker on the football team and I played basketball as often as I could. I remember at that age thinking I would always be in shape and take care of my body. I might have succeeded, but sometimes things happen in life that we are not prepared for and plans change.
I was walking home late one night when I was nineteen years old and suddenly all my strength and energy left me. A friend took me to the emergency room and after hours of tests, I was told that I had suffered from exhaustion and I just needed a good nights sleep. That good nights sleep lasted about three weeks. I wasnt asleep the entire time, but probably about 70% of the time. For the next four months doctors put me through dozens of medical tests to determine my problem. I finally started to regain some of my energy and was able to return to a somewhat normal life, but nobody knew what was wrong with me. I was just so tired and out of energy all the time.
Thankfully, God was watching over me and after two years of dealing with a problem without a name, I was led to a doctor who made a diagnosis. I have Narcolepsy, a sleep disorder that causes extreme tiredness and momentary lapses of paralysis. Unfortunately, there is no cure for Narcolepsy; the best treatment currently is medication that hypes you up. I have tried several different medications and herbal remedies to regulate my disorder, but to little avail. A positive side effect of some of the different drugs was an increased metabolism that kept you from gaining weight. Conversely, however, when you stop taking them you gain a lot of weight very quickly. A couple of years ago I reached a point where I just couldnt handle the treatments any more; I decided I would just have to deal with my disease as best as I could naturally.
I decided that one of the best ways I could deal with my disease was to be in the best possible shape I could be. I didnt know where to start, so I just took what I knew about nutrition and picked one of the currently popular work-out programs. The program worked to some degree, but nobody really noticed any change in me and it was just so hard to do. I had to get a gym membership and work out for almost two hours a day and the strict meal program made it hard for my wife and child to have a normal meal with me. When I started that program I was about 50 pounds overweight; in three months I was able to lose 20 pounds, but nobody said I looked different or Wow, you look great, what are you doing? So after three months I just gave up, but I always had in the back of my mind that I needed to get in shape if I could just find a program that was more realistic.
Last November I was flipping through the channels when I saw a commercial for Slim in 6. As I watched the program, I began to get more and more excited. This was what I had been looking for: an exercise program I could do at home with an eating plan that made sense. I received the Slim in 6 program for Christmas and immediately pulled out the booklet and pamphlets, read everything carefully, and planned my strategy. I ordered the supplements and power bands, then I figured out my goals and what kinds of foods and snacks would be best. The first week in February I got to work.
I knew as I started this new program I would need a little help so one of the first things I did was get on the message boards and join a support group. It really makes life easier when you know that you are not the only one out there trying to make a change, that there are others struggling and succeeding with you. In fact, I have to give a great big thank you to TruckerMom. Thank you for always being so kind and encouraging.
Slim in 6 has changed my life. I am a walking testimonial that the program works. I am even thinking about asking for commission for all the Slim in 6 programs I have sold to family and friends! Lately, people having been coming up to me all the time and saying, You look so good, what have you been doing? After I explain the program to them I always get them same next question. Where can I get that?
I still deal with Narcolepsy on a daily basis (I have to admit that I did sleep through a couple of the work-outs), but dealing with this disorder and life is much more manageable when you are not carrying around 30 to 40 extra pounds of weight.
Once again, thanks. I am now on the road to a much better and healthier life.
