Rated 3 out of 5 by from Loved it for 2 years & counting I bought Asylum (with the rope & ladder) in October of 2012, and have been using the Speed Rope consistently (for Asylum I and II, plus the InsanityAsylum hybrid calendars) ever since. The Speed Rope just snapped last night (August 2014) at the handle where the plastic cord rotates against its hole in the handle. Fortunately for me, I had not trimmed off the excess length poking up into the handles. So I just moved the retainer rings to the end of the cord, and I'm back in business at nearly the original length. Who knows, I may get another 2 years out of this thing! I love the weight of the Speed Rope. It's way easier to control than the cloth/wooden handled rope I have (you know, the kind with the metal swivel). Plus it makes a cool clicking sound on my hardwood floors that lets my neighborhood know I'm in sweat mode. After two years straight on both hardwood and carpet, there is almost no wear on the scraping portion in the center. But yes, the handles will eventually cut through the cord. If you ask me, 2 years is a good run... especially for a rope that's a pleasure to use. And now that I've moved the retainer ring inside the other handle, the worn area on that side is moved away from the hole, and out of danger of wearing through!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rope breaks at handles My rope broke several times, each time where the rope is seated inside of the handles. Eventually, the rope whittled away to a length where it wasn't usable anymore.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Low Quality Used my rope for approximately four weeks and the ends started to break off. I'm a Thai Boxer and have lots of experience with speed ropes. However, when functioning properly this rope does do the job. I log many rounds on my rope. It may just be that this rope in particular is made to handle the work load of the asylum program specifically. But I have never had issues with ropes made from better material.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good for one round I used this rope for the thirty days of Asylum plus a few more and then it broke. The friction between the rope and the handle cut through the rope.
