2003 Hawaii Trip
I have always considered myself an active person. Growing up, I think I took my figure for granted. I've had my share of working out for 9 months and then not working out for 6 months. After college my weight pretty much stabilized around 140 lbs. Yet, my ID still said 120. I guess I was hoping that one day, I'd find myself weighing 120 lbs again.
After meeting my boyfriend, I realized just how out of shape I was. He got me into backpacking and outdoor rock climbing. It felt so good to be physically active again. I needed to improve my stamina, so I started working out again, lifting weights and using the treadmill. Still my consistency at the gym never seemed to show any results. The scale would increase a pound or two and my clothes size never changed. It's probably because I was still eating bacon and hamburgers!!!
In September 2002, my boyfriend and I went to the island of Kauai, in Hawaii. We backpacked the Kulalau trail, an 11-mile hike along the beautiful Na Pali Coast. It's rated 9 on a scale of 1-10 for trails. It was a life-changing experience. First of all, I wasn't sure if I was going to make it. Seven miles into the trail, I thought I was going to die! I promised myself that if I could complete the backpacking trip, that I could do anything, even lose weight. I still remember the exact spot when I made that promise to myself. I had no excuses once I came back home, but I had one question: How was I going to do it?
Two weeks later, I was home sick from work and the Slim in 6 commercial was on. The stories were so believable. I remember saying, " hey, maybe that will work for me." So I called before the commercial even ended.
When my package arrived, I was scared. I realized that not only was I going to have to work out six days a week, I was going to have to eat carefully. I didn't think I could do it. I figured that I had nothing to lose. Debbie was so encouraging in the tapes. She seemed really genuine.
That first week was torture. The Giants made it to the World Series, and while my friends were eating pizza and hot dogs I remained true to my diet. Halloween was another test. There was candy everywhere. Thanks to the support I found in the Message Boards, I was able to refuse. By the end of week two, I was sold. I started noticing my energy level increasing and clothes fitting looser. I was on the Message Boards three times a day. I ordered the Slimming Formula. Most importantly, I was happy. I liked looking in the mirror and I couldn't wait to go home and work out! I wanted everyone to know about Slim in 6 and Beachbody. You see, I never told anyone I was doing it. Afraid that I wouldn't make it to week six, I kept it to myself. The Message Boards were my only source of support. Hence, my pictures were taken with a timer. By week four, I started sharing the program with others, I was a walking commercial.
I completed my six weeks two days after Thanksgiving. My measurements:
waist: 33" to 28.5", chest 38" to 35", hips: 39" to 36", both thighs:
20" - 19", both arms: 12" to 11". I dropped from 146 lbs to 137 lbs.
I still need to change the weight on my ID. But for now, I am enjoying the benefits of dropping from a size 10 to a size 6. Thank you Beachbody for giving me the proper tools, support, and motivation to become healthier and happier!!!
Continuing a healthier and happier life,
