2002 Hawaii Trip
I have been telling myself for a couple of years now that I am FAT and NEED to lose weight. I had tried several diets within those two years, and had zero luck with emphasis on the word "luck". All the diets I tried were, in my opinion, the wrong way to diet, because they were all the "Lose 100 Pounds in 2 Days with No Exercise" type of diets. I knew I was kidding myself, and was hoping for the miracle cure.
Then one Saturday morning in February 2002, I was sitting in front of the television, and was feeling like absolute crap due to a bachelor party the night before. A friend of mine happened to be over because of the bachelor party, and had control of the remote. As he was flipping through the channels, he happened to stop on the Power 90 infomercial. Instantly, I start teasing on him, because I had the impression by this time that all infomercials were gimmicks. Well, harassing him didn't seem to matter, because he never changed channels. Luckily, he didn't because within 10 minutes, I became a believer. What I really liked about it was that I couldn't see the "gimmick". It looked to me that this program was a "no nonsense" approach to losing the weight, and, really the "common sense" way to lose weight. So, the funny thing is that even after realizing that this program has got to work, I still didn't order it, because my friend did. I figured I would wait and see how he did, and then if it worked, I would go for it.
Once the tapes were delivered to him, he has some other stuff going on with work, so he let me borrow them, and the Power 90 craze began! On April 1st, I started with Phase 1-2 Cardio, and was hurting after Power Toga, but loved it at the same time (I just ordered Beachbody's Toga Video: Ho'Ala ke Kino "Awaken the Body"! ! ! ). After Cardio/Abs was all said and done, I realized my number one reason that makes this program so great...All the guess work of working out is gone! There is no thinking or rationalizing anymore. For example, I used to always look in magazines for different exercises, and never necessarily followed through with doing them. With Power 90, the bottom line is that 6 days a week you are going to be doing the wonderful exercises in the VHS tapes or DVDs, and you must complete the whole tape. If you don't complete it, you know you slacked off!
30 days into it, I felt better than ever. My energy level was at an all time high, and I knew 90 days was a reachable goal, because I was so happy with my results. In fact, my friend who originally ordered the DVDs noticed the results as well, and got jealous. He said that he needed the DVDs back as soon as possible, so I needed to act fast. I got on the phone, ordered my own set of DVDs, and made my friend wait until I got them. I just told him if he waited this long to be fit, he can wait a couple more days.... . I can be a real jerk!
60 days later, I couldn't believe my eyes, and then it was time to get ready for the 90 day picture. I really tried to kick it in gear, and then was ready to take my last picture on June 29th. Of course that required shaving my hairy Italian chest, but it was all worth it when I could see abdominal definition for the first time in my life. Since then I have had to go buy new pants, due to 30 pounds of ugly fat disappearing from my body (38 waist down to a 33)! ! ! !
