Rated 1 out of 5 by Casey A poor sequel to P90X!!
I was an avid fan of the first P90X and told all my friends about how good it was. Needless to say I was ecstatic when the mention of P90X-2 came out. I thought it would revolutionize the world by introducing fast and simple workouts to the masses.
I was surprised to find out that P90X-2 is just a propaganda scheme that forces you to purchase dubious amounts of exercise equipment and repeats pointless workouts over and over. I mean who really has the money in today's economy to buy 4 medicine balls and a 60 dollar roller that is on every disk and just happens to be Tony Horton's "favorite" piece of equipment!!!
If you have the first P90X, don't buy the second one. That's what I'm telling everyone here at least in my community.
I was very excited to order P90X2 after having seen the professional commercials they posted on their website. After receiving the product and now having worked out with it for several weeks, I am extremely disappointed.
The exercises are very complicated and in my personal opinion there is a high risk of injury from all the shaky balancing and band stretching that is going on.
Furthermore, this product was clearly designed to force you to buy a number of expensive accessories through Beachbody to really be able to follow along.
Lastly, I am disappointed how this previously fun series has turned Tony into a scripted performer that nervously reads line after line of supposedly cool punchlines from the teleprompter (watch his eyes moves left and right all the time). It just looks and feels very staged and commercialized, the fun is gone.
In short, some of the exercises are good but most are too complicated, risky and staged.
It feels like they did everything they could to make the product look cool and a true sequel, but really it is an artificial and heavy-handed, forced sequel without any soul. Really really sad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dad1001 Not for the faint of heart
This is a very effective program for healthy adults devoid of significant Orthopedic concerns. I am a healthcare provider and I recommend this product for individuals that desire elite fitness. I have completed "4 cycles" of this product and I have been pleasantly surprised with the results. I thought that my speed and agility were gone when I turned 33...boy was I wrong. I used to have trouble throwing a baseball 20 yards now I can throw it 50!! I never hit homeruns during softball, now I average 1 every couple games. All of the young guys on my team are exhausted by the 4th inning and it makes me feel good that I am able to do a double header with little effort. I owe all of this success to P90X2. This program does "think outside of the box", it is NOT your traditional boring workouts. It is an evolution in fitness, open your mind the the concept of functional fitness. Thanks again Tony!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by J.American Same Goal - Different Methods
A lot of people bash X2 as "not being as good a workout as P90X." Assuming your goal is health and fitness, both programs are excellent. P90X will always be a perfect one stop shop for whipping yourself into shape; however, it does not provide as much application as X2 does.
First of all, X2 is for those who already have a base of fitness. It is not a fitness bootcamp program. It is based around taking someone of medium strength/athleticism and taking it through the roof. I say that this has more application than the X because it is for those who want to DO MORE with their fitness rather than just have the "higher quality of life." With the strong emphasis on core training and working muscle groups with one another (rather than isolation), this program provides a more overall challenge and experience than I had with the X.
My personal experience with it: I pre-ordered it when it first came out and used it to prepare myself before track season. It helped enormously and I won all of my heats but one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mark This is a terrific program!
I have been doing P90x2 since last December after 2 years of doing P90x. I loved the original and I must admit it took me some time to fall in love with x2. Some people have complained that their results with x2 have been inferior when compared to the original. Others have given up on x2 early in the program. My advice is to stick with x2 for the full 90 days. Once you have completed the program you will feel more athletic and you will have a much stronger core. You will also feel way more confident in performing all those crazy balance moves on med balls which will allow you to really crank up the results on round two. For round two my suggestion is to start with phase 2, and stay in it as long as you want. This phase is very similar to the original, without the Kenpo. I like to substitute the original Shoulders and Arms into this phase. Here is how I know this program really works. After taking one month of in the summer I decided to to do a week of P90x followed by a week of x2 (strength phase). I found the original to be not as difficult as I remembered. After week two I decided to stick with x2 because it was working me way harder. Almost one year later x2 is still working me hard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by healthyishappy Different and challenging
When I first heard that a P90X2 was to be released, I almost cried from excitement. Moments later, I'd already preordered it. Although there were some issues with its delivery, I was able to begin the program January 1st, the most ideal way to kick-start the new year. I immediately fell in love with it. It was so great to hear Tony's voice again, and not have every line completely memorized..yet.
If you're just about to start P90X2 - prepare yourself. I had a fair share of nervous breakdowns due to frustration with my lack of balance skills, but I can tell you that after just a few weeks of dedication and hard work, I could already see a six-pack peeking through. Needless to say, I was ecstatic. The workouts are a perfect blend of brutal and fun, especially if you're up for the challenge. They include an emphasis on core (something I desperately needed), along with new, innovative exercises with such tools as the foam roller, stability ball, etc.
The only, ONLY problem I would have with this program is that it takes me so long to complete the workouts. I easily spend 2+ hours working out (but mostly taking massive breaks), because, yes, the workouts are that grueling. Other than that, however, I don't think this program could have been made any better.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Wayne This product provides variety
I bought it about a year ago and have completed it twice. I love P90X and believe that it is designed better and gives a better overall workout. Don't get me wrong P90x2 brings it but not in same way. I suggest integrating the new moves from P90x2 with the old routines of p90x, this is a great way to get results and is more challenging. I love the idea of using balls on majority of routines.
Pros- really is about core/balance
Cons- warm up is lengthy,

Rated 2 out of 5 by AmyTriDoc Too complex for a good workout.
I purchased this after reading the other reviews thinking it would be a good way to mix up my workouts. I have a lot of experience doing Insanity a couple times through and always feel like I had a great workout after those videos, but was getting tired of doing the same thing over and over. Got P90x2 to mix it up and now I regret it. The workouts are very complex, require a lot of equipment, and have too much talking rather than working out. I would rate myself as a pretty fit person (I can do between 15-20 pullups and 80 or so pushups in a row, and compete in Ironman), but I found that though the exercises were quite chanllenging in P90x2, it seemed I was spending so much time trying to figure out how to do them, that I would not get a good workout. I have not done P90x, but maybe it is better than this. If you are looking for a simple and easy way to get in great shape, this may not be the best choice for you.
